Dolce & Gabbana New Collection: Miss Sicily

This week I was invited to attend a Dolce & Gabbana New Collection launch which was held on the 35th floor of The Shard at the Shangri-La Hotel. The day was hosted by the Dolce & Gabbana London training team and we were honoured with special guest Massimiliano aka Max the Joker who is Dolce & Gabbana’s global Makeup Artist.

Dolce & Gabbana’s new collection ‘Miss Sicily’ showcases a range of stunning new lipsticks that nourish and comfort the lips. Each lipstick is infused with vitamin C and E and scented with the sweet aroma of vanilla which is a new concept for the brand as each lipstick was previously scented with what Mr Gabbana describes as the scent from his mothers handbag.

The Miss Sicily lipsticks have the feel and texture of a tinted balm with buildable colour that is easy to apply. They also make a fantastic base much like a primer, due to their moisturising, protective quality and sheer coverage.

All 16 shades are named after Sicilian women and come in a beautiful springtime colour palette in 5 families of shades- nude, pink, purple, coral and red.

Packaged in Dolce & Gabbana’s signature black and gold casing the lipsticks are an ultimate representation of opulence and style.

Massimiliano suggests using a Miss Sicily lipstick as a base before building on top of it with a second layer, dabbing it gently on to the lips. Using a lip brush he then explains a pop of colour from a classic lipstick can take the look from day to evening and intensify the colour, sharpening edges with a matching lipliner.

It was inspiring to meet an artist such as Massimiliano not only for his artistic expertise but also for his incredibly humble nature. He had flown in especially from the Middle East and through his tiredness he remained graceful and kind while sharing his passion and knowledge with complete modesty.

The Miss Sicily collection is exclusive to Harrods in the UK and is available from 12th April 2017.
